General FAQs
Lake View Athletics is the umbrella from with the LV Baseball/Softball and LV Soccer boards operate. We are a non-profit community organization within the hamlet of Lake View, New York providing athletic opportunities to the youth of our community and those surrounding it.
Our goal is to provide a positive environment that will foster mental and physical development of our youth into productive citizens of tomorrow while helping them build and maintain healthy friendships and lifestyles.
We are the premier choice for community athletics. We may or may not be the closest choice for you, but we are one of the best in Western New York. Just ask any of our participants and volunteers who travel from other areas outside of Lake View to come participate in our outstanding programs. We ensure our coaches are vetted and background checked, encourage certification of our game officials, and provide equal opportunities for all who want to participate in our organization.
Lake View Athletics is located on Burke Road in Lake View, New York. This athletic complex is our main multi-use facility with 8 baseball diamonds in the summer, a batting cage, 6-8 soccer fields in the fall, a concession stand with restrooms (open during game times), and our main storage area for equipment. We also utilize baseball diamonds and soccer fields at the Hamburg Nike Base Athletic Complex off of Lake View Road. There are virtual maps with the ability to get driving directions located on the 'Field Locations' section of this website.
We are always looking for new faces and talents for our division directors and board of directors. E-mail us to let us know you are interested. Someone will get back to you and explain the process and requirements for being a board member. It's a great way to help our organization grow stronger.
We are mostly unpaid volunteers. All coaching, assistant coaching, committee, director, and board member positions (the bulk of our organization) are unpaid positions. We do have paid positions, and that would be the game officials who officiate in our leagues. We have baseball and softball umpires in the summer season and soccer referees in the fall. Although mainly comprised of teenagers and young adults, we encourage anyone and everyone aged 12(soccer) / 13(baseball, softball) or older who would like to officiate to apply to do so. We also have opportunities at our Hopp Stop (snack shack).
Please email Gardy about baseball/softball umpires.
Please email David about soccer officials
Please email Jennifer about the Hopp Stop
Lake View Athletics operates a snack shack at Burke Road fields called the Hopp Stop. We sell candy, drinks, slush puppies, freezies, hot pretzels, pizza, and popcorn. We are open every weeknight and weekends when games are being played. We sell coupons for parents/coaches to purchase for their kids/players to get a treat after the game. We accept credit cards.

We do allow children to play up a division if approved by the board, there are many elements we evaluate prior to making the decision. The number of years they have been playing, age/birthdate, ability, skill, etc. Any player asking to move up MUST attend a Rating Combine.
Parents should register their child in their eligible division. Parents can make a note in the comments that they want their child to be considered for advancement. The board will review and make their decision after the Rating Combine.
All players in our Boys Baseball and Girls Softball divisions will be required to attend one of our rating sessions scheduled for February 6 and February 27 at the Hamburg Recreation Center. We use these sessions to assess skill level of players so we can ensure teams are equal and children enjoy playing. Each player is only required to attend one session.

In general, refunds are not provided if a child or children decide not to participate. This is due to the planning and costs associated with setting up a season. However, we do understand that certain circumstances arise pre-season that are above and beyond anyone's humanly reasonable control. These include severe injury or illness that will prevent participation for the full season and military orders that come suddenly to pick up and move to a new base in a short amount of time. If you feel you have a circumstance that is beyond anyone's humanly reasonable control, please contact our treasurer. If approved, your refund will be processed and sent to you 4-6 weeks after the request was made. Your refund will be less any expenses already funded such as jerseys and other personal equipment that would have been used during the season. Refunds are not granted once the season begins.
In the t-ball and pee-wee we do our very best to honor parent requests such as this.
In the competitive divisions (rookie, minor, major, Jr) requests are not honored. Our first priority is balancing teams for maximum enjoyment and safe fair play. Coaches are allowed to have their kids on the team they coach. Siblings that play in the same division are kept together. Transportation issues, friends playing together, etc. are not considered.
If the fields are drenched and unplayable the games will be rescheduled. You will be notified via email from the league. If we are expecting rain, but the fields are playable at game time, we will attempt to play the games. If there is thunder or lightening just prior to start time or during the games we fall back to our safety policy. Policy can be reviewed here
